Suminagashi, or “floating ink,” is the traditional Japanese art of floating ink on water and setting onto paper a fluid design formed on the water’s surface.
Each card is created individually by hand in the Hudson Valley using water drawn from the Esopus Creek. The finished suminagashi is mounted on Fabriano Medioevalis, fine Italian mould-made stationery with softly deckled edges, and paired with a matching envelope.
No two patterns are alike.
