Suminagashi, or “floating ink,” is the traditional Japanese art of floating ink on water and setting onto paper a fluid design formed on the water’s surface.
Each piece is created individually by hand in the Hudson Valley using water drawn from the Esopus Creek. The finished suminagashi is mounted by hand on a cradled wood panel and protected with a matte finish.
